Progress Update

I just talked with Randy and listened to a voice mail from Christy and wanted to pass along some good news. Christy got her chest tube out today which in turn allowed her to try on her brace. With the appropriate help from others, they got Christy sitting up on the side of the bed for a short time this afternoon. You could definitely hear the bounce in Christy's voice on the voice mail. They are going to make some adjustment to the brace to improve the fit, but it was a good first day of therapy.

Please continue to send words of encouragement in the comments section following the post. I know they are encouraging to Christy and the family.

  1. my sister-in-law lives in atlanta and is in the medical field. she knows a little about the shepard clinic. She has checked out their web site and said it is very informative. She told me that she would be available to help out in any way possible when you guys are ready to come down. She knows the area pretty well so she can at least help you with finding your way around atlanta. We continue to keep you Christy and family in much prayer. love you all Ken and Judeanne

  4. Hey Christy!

Great Job! Sitting on the side of the bed with your "Turtle Shell" (BRACE) as many have called them is a great first day. You must be a fantastic patient and tough at that. I have had many that would only let me put it on them the first day or two. Keep showing them your stuff. You know you can decorate those shells in your spare time or order a particular color. I have seen Flames, Camouflage, and Smiling Faces. We continue to hold you and your family in our prayers. Also wanted to let you know a past member of our church FCCN who also has Twins now has returned Atlanta GA area, she also said if you all end up going to Shepard for rehab she will be checking in on you. She knows the area well, has lived there most of her life.

    Keep up the hard work,
    Stacey

  5. It was so good to talk to you tonight Christy. We are praying for you. Ben has been thinking about you a lot. He remembers his Aunt Christy all the time, he even asked me to wake him up in the middle of the night so he could get in an extra prayer in a couple nights ago.

  7. We (Dave, Julie & Julie's mom, Ann) came to see you Saturday afternoon, but Cathy said you were just starting a nap, so we missed you. But that is great news about already sitting up. Cathy reminded us of how strong you are with the retelling of the story that had you piggy-backing Randy Stuber up a whole flight of stairs. - Stay strong! Love Julie & Dave Clingan

  11. Christy,
I am Cathy's friend's daughter. I have been faollowing your blogs. We are so glad to hear you are doing well. It's great news. Also, I am a student at the Career and Tech Center. I take radio broadcasting. If you have any events that you wish the public to know about, I can broadcast them on air. Just give Cathy the information to give me, and I'll have them on air in no time. :] Anyway, I am so happy that you are doing well. I wish you the best in your journeys ahead. Stay strong Christy and I'll continue to pray for you.
    Kelsey.

  14. Christy -

Just wanted you to know that you are on prayer chains all over the country - from our former church in San Francisco to our current church here in Franklin, TN. Past and present co-workers of mine are praying for you as well - people in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana & Arkansas to name a few. Jayne has you on prayer chains on the other side of the world as well. Facebook has been a wonderful resource for getting the word out also. You are loved and prayed for. Keep up the good work! 15. Christy -

As I am sure Jill has told you, your family is on prayer chains in my church (Shiloh United Methodist in Jasper), my mom's church (Faith Assembly of God in Beech Grove), and my sister's church, (Mt. Pleasant in Greenwood). AND, my mom and sister are AMAZING PRAYER WARRIORS!!

From reading the comments of others, I trust God and his Angels are surrounding you constantly! This includes your youngen' so don't worry over them. Continue the hard work on your physical strength and stay true to your mental strength.

Most of all, never forget for one moment that God is cradling you, Randy, and your children in his arms! God has known this was coming and has already prepared you in ways that none of us can even imagine. When you see and hug your kids, know that God sees and hugs you with just as much love you have for your kids and more. We will continue to pray that God's warm blessings be upon you and that you will feel his strength and presence, especially during any quiet, dark moments when you feel all alone. You are never alone, God is with you just as he was with you when you hit that tree and he spared your life. Christy, we are so grateful for your life!!!

Lots of Love and Prayers to You, Randy and your kiddos, Nate and Peggy Grow

  17. You are so amazing Christy to already be sitting up. But then again, anyone who knows you for 5 minutes knows you are a real go-getter. So many people are praying for you and your family and we will not cease. Newburgh Elementary is not the same without you and I miss you so much on Wednesdays. Don't worry or feel bad though. We will manage somehow...just know you are irreplaceable. Keep your hopes high for more and more progress for with God all things are possible. He can do alot with someone like you...a hard worker with a happy heart.
